Verity - Colleen Hoover

Occasionally, I'll pick up a book by an unfamiliar author for the sake of variety. I'd seen her books in the 'thriller' section and checked this out. Little did I know she was a major phenomenon! I should have, though, because I found this NYT piece in my files. She's sold more books than James Patterson and John Grisham - combined! Now I notice scores of her books on the endcaps of Target.

Apparently, her style varies, but this novel is told by a fledgling writer who is recruited to finish a series of books by Verity, a world-famous author who is in a coma from a car accident. The narrator is recruited by Verity's husband, who invites the young writer to stay at their remote home in Vermont, where Verity lies paralyzed in an upstairs bedroom. She finds Verity's diary and discovers secrets that make her want to flee. Lots of sex and suspense and I can see why Hoover is popular with many women.
